Dolch PRE-PRIMER Sight Words Flash Cards

Early literacy is one of the biggest predictors of future academic success, so although we never pushed reading on our son to the point that it felt like a chore, we read to him early and worked in fun ways on letter knowledge. This paid off. He started to recognize some sight words before his 4th birthday, so I decided to get these to continue working on sight words with him. Honestly, he made fast work of these, and I think it's because his letter knowledge progressed to the point that he uses phonics to read words rather than memory. Still, for the few months he was using these, they definitely helped. By now, he's getting close to turning 5, and he reads fluently. These don't replace parental involvement and just reading with your kids, but they're definitely helpful, and the cards are well made and colorful.

We made great use of these and it really was helpful with learning. Everything is repetition and this is a nice tool to have.

These are thick and sturdy cards. They are easy to keep together and not loose because they are on the O ring! Great idea- children are constantly loosing their education cards!

The only reason I rated this 4 stars is the fact that it's priced a bit high. I think this sight word ring card is well made and easy to use when practicing with a young reader, but considering regular sight word flash cards run under $10, I think charging $4-$5 more for putting them on a ring is excessive.

These cards are exactly as described. They come on a ring which is handy to keep them together if you don't want to hold on to their box but it makes it so you can take them apart and use only the ones that are relevant to your child at the time. I have a 6 year old who is learning all of the sight words right now and she was excited as soon as I pulled these out of the box to show me which ones she had already learned. I am pleased with the quality of the cards. They are printed clearly and are on coated cards that feel like they will hold up over time. I noticed that these were American made and a woman owned business; I am happy to support a woman owned businesses that is making such a useful, educational product. It's a simple thing but well done and I can see my children getting a lot of use out of these cards as they are learning.

This is a nice assortment of flash cards. I purchased them for my granddaughter, who's currently in Kindergarten. I think she'll really enjoy them!

The sight cards are helpful for our children with autism. It is difficult to teach them but these cards make it a little easier.

I loved that words were presented in one format on the front of the card and a different color or format on the back of the card. It helps new readers recognize the same word in different formats. This would also be great to use with ESL students!

I picked these up for my kindergartener eager to recognize more words. The pictures for some of the words were not quite as intuitive as one would expect and, in some cases, distracted him, but the more he practiced, the more he built those associations. The cards themselves are well-made and include a ring to flip them, and my son readily went through them on his own. However, overall, I think the price point for these is a bit steep and would probably not buy additional sets at this price point.

These are the size of regular playing cards, and come in a sturdy box. They are plastic coated, so even if your toddler has dirty hands, or if something gets spilled on them, they will wipe right off. they are a good size so your toddler can hold them, and they are somewhat durable, so if they get bent, they can still be used.
